Public evidence library

Turn visible product facts into a useful buyer question

These examples use public product pages only. They show what can be observed, what a buyer may still need to understand, and what requires private Shopify, feed, inventory, or Merchant Center verification.

Public evidence is a useful starting point, not a private-system diagnosis.

Seven worked examples

What the page shows, and what it does not prove

Use this structure when reviewing a representative product or explaining a potential issue to a Shopify, SEO, feed, or CRO team.

Availability and delivery should describe the same decision

  • The public page presents the item as a pre-order product while also showing a limited-availability message.
  • The page exposes dimensions, materials, in-home delivery and assembly, returns, and warranty information.

Buyer question: Can a shopper tell whether the selected item is available now, reserved for a future shipment, or subject to a different delivery promise?

Boundary: The public page cannot prove inventory quantity, fulfilment status, or a private channel feed mapping.

Comparison attributes need to survive the product-page handoff

  • The public product page exposes size choices, material, pile height, construction, thickness, and colors.
  • Those attributes give a buyer a concrete basis for comparing options, but only when the selected state stays clear.

Buyer question: Which product facts should remain visible when a shopper changes size or color, and where should care or returns information be linked?

Boundary: The public page cannot confirm which attributes are sent to a private feed, search channel, or product taxonomy.

A delivery window should agree with the selected availability state

  • The public page shows an in-stock label, an expected delivery window, and a separate shipping section with dispatch and transit wording.
  • The same page also describes a pre-order processing range in its shipping policy, creating a concrete place to check whether the message applies to this item or only to other products.

Buyer question: After a shopper sees the selected availability state, which delivery promise should they use for this specific product?

Boundary: The public page cannot establish the merchant's inventory source, order routing, or which private feed fields inherit the displayed state.

Made-to-order furniture

Custom options need a clear handoff from lead time to freight quote

  • The public page exposes a pre-order label, a fall 2026 lead-time statement, custom frame and fabric options, product dimensions, and separate residential and LTL freight quote paths.
  • It also distinguishes a possible 5-7 business-day unfinished shipment from the longer made-to-order path.

Buyer question: Can a buyer tell which lead time and delivery-quote path applies to the configuration they are considering?

Boundary: The public page cannot confirm production capacity, quote eligibility, inventory, or the private order and fulfilment rules behind each configuration.

Outdoor modular furniture

Pre-order copy should explain what the selected module can actually ship

  • The public page labels the product as pre-order and shows a 4-6 week lead time, while the selected module state exposes price and availability data for multiple module types.
  • The page also states that modules are sold individually and lists different dimensions for the module, corner module, and chaise module.

Buyer question: Does the selected module keep its own price, availability, lead time, and dimensions clear when the buyer changes configuration?

Boundary: The public page cannot establish warehouse quantity, supplier allocation, or whether the structured data is used consistently by a private feed or channel.

A configuration should carry its delivery qualifier with its price and dimensions

  • The public page exposes size and fabric choices, a £1,600.00-£2,100.00 price range, and separate 2-seater and 3-seater dimensions.
  • The delivery section states 10 working days for UK mainland delivery and an additional 5 working days for products with upholstery or cushions made to order.

Buyer question: Can a buyer connect the selected size and fabric to the applicable price, dimensions, and made-to-order delivery allowance?

Boundary: The public page cannot establish which private product, inventory, or fulfilment rules generate the displayed options and delivery terms.

Different sofa sizes need a consistent handoff from option to delivery information

  • The public page describes 2-seater and 3-seater formats, exposes Standard and Large options, and lists separate dimensions for both formats.
  • The delivery section states 10 working days for UK mainland delivery and an additional 5 working days for made-to-order cushions.

Buyer question: Does the selected sofa size keep its price, dimensions, and made-to-order delivery qualifier clear at the purchase decision?

Boundary: The public page cannot confirm the private variant, inventory, feed, or fulfilment state behind each option.

Apply the method

Start with one public page, then decide whether a review is warranted

Capture the URL, selected state, exact wording, buyer question, and review date. A quick check shows basic public markup; a mini-audit is useful when the same buyer-facing pattern repeats across a small sample.

A practical next step

  • 1. Check: run the free public-page check on one representative URL.
  • 2. Compare: review two or three related products and record the recurring question.
  • 3. Escalate: request a focused mini-audit only when you want a human fix sequence.
