How to audit a Shopify product page

A useful product-page audit checks whether the facts that help a buyer choose are clear on the page, consistent across comparable products, and visible in the basic public markup.

Public-page review only. This is not a Merchant Center approval check, a ranking promise, or a revenue forecast.

01

Can a buyer identify the exact product?

Start with the visible facts that distinguish one item or option from another.

  • The title makes the product type clear before marketing language takes over.
  • The selected size, colour, finish, pack size, or configuration changes the price, availability, lead time, and other facts a buyer sees.
  • Material, dimensions, compatibility, capacity, and other deciding facts are easy to find and use consistent units.
02

Can a buyer make the purchase decision?

A complete specification is not always enough. The page should answer the questions that prevent a confident choice.

  • Care, installation, assembly, fit, or suitability guidance sits close to the product decision when relevant.
  • Delivery timing, samples, return conditions, and warranty information are easy to locate.
  • When a product has a made-to-order, bespoke, or configured path, the delivery and return information shown on that path explains any exception before a buyer commits.
  • Product-level FAQs answer recurring high-intent questions without making a buyer search the whole site.
03

Does the same information stay consistent?

A strong individual page can still create friction if comparable products describe the same facts differently.

  • Comparable products use repeatable labels, terminology, and units.
  • Product cards, filters, detail pages, FAQs, and policies do not contradict each other.
  • General policy text and any selected made-to-order path use one clearly scoped rule, rather than leaving the buyer to infer which window applies.
  • Visible Product markup broadly reflects the page rather than an outdated default.

Look for a repeatable pattern, not isolated copy issues

If a key fact is missing, hard to compare, or described differently across a collection, solve the underlying content pattern once before making page-by-page edits.
